The Lockwood Group supports a C5ISR hardware and software program for a U.S. Army customer located at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD. This effort provides product technical support services for systems and equipment produced, fielded, modified, or sustained under PdM Network Modernization (NetMod) and PdM Mission Network within the Project Manager Tactical Network (PM TN), Program Executive Office C3T (PEO C3T).
The program ensures secure, scalable, and mission-ready tactical network capabilities supporting Army modernization and operational effectiveness.
The Computer Network Architect is responsible for the design, planning, and implementation of secure and high-performance network architectures supporting tactical and enterprise communication systems. This role develops scalable network solutions aligned with mission requirements and ensures optimal security, performance, and reliability across complex operational environments.
The position requires strong expertise in network architecture design, capacity planning, protocol selection, and hardware/software integration within DoD environments.
Design, plan, and implement secure computer network architectures supporting tactical and enterprise systems
Develop detailed network blueprints for LANs, WANs, and intranet environments, considering bandwidth, scalability, and security requirements
Assess mission and program requirements to design efficient data communication systems utilizing routers, switches, firewalls, and network management tools
Conduct simulations and capacity planning to predict future network needs and identify potential bottlenecks
Analyze network traffic, monitor performance, and recommend upgrades to optimize functionality
Ensure network security architecture aligns with mission and compliance requirements
Research and recommend appropriate network hardware and software solutions
Produce and review technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and implementation plans
Provide technical briefings and collaborate with cross-functional engineering and Government stakeholders
Bachelor of Science degree
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience as a Computer Network Architect
Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCNA, VCP-NV, or equivalent
Experience performing simulations and capacity planning
Experience selecting and recommending network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) and software tools
Foundational understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, MPLS)
Active DoD Secret clearance
U.S. Citizenship required
Minimum 5 years supporting computer networking technologies within the Department of Defense
Experience with routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
Experience with network automation and scripting
Experience monitoring and optimizing network performance in secure environments
Experience supporting programs at Aberdeen Proving Ground
Ability to remain stationary approximately 50% of the time
Occasional movement within an office environment
Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, management, and customers, including delivering technical presentations
