Network and Systems Engineer (Tactical Network)

The Lockwood Group is looking for experience Network Engineers as well as System Engineers to support a newly awarded contract supporting the Army's Project Manager Tactical Network (PM TN) program located in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
• Experience in network engineering
• Experience in designing and implementing LANs or VLANs
• Experience with routing protocols, multicast, routing configurations, IPv4/IPv6 addressing, etc.
• Experience with network protocol analysis using tools such as Sniffer or Wireshark
• Experience with VMware
• Knowledge of commercial communications equipment
• Knowledge of transport and network architectures
• Knowledge of end-to-end network design and performance
• Knowledge of voice/data transmission and backbone networks
• Knowledge of RF engineering
• Knowledge of tactical communications systems

The Lockwood Group is looking for experience Network Engineers as well as System Engineers to support a newly awarded contract supporting the Army's Project Manager Tactical Network (PM TN) program located in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
Network Engineer Responsibilities:
-
Design, plan, install, integrate and maintain backbone core-area tactical and strategic communications networks, including portions of the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) and the Global Information Grid (GIG).
- Gather requirements from user, Operational Need Statements and Capability Production Documents (CPD) for Army’s tactical communications systems and translate requirements into technical solutions that are standards-based and cost efficient.
- Develop network architecture for adjacent, higher and lower units, as well as for allied nations, other government agencies and commercial service interfaces.
- Knowledge and understanding current/future Force tactical and strategic military communications networks, as well as the architecture, protocols, security, network management and physics underlying these systems.
- Responsible for the engineering design, development, integration, installation, operation and maintenance of the tactical network.
- Support technical tasks in the integration of Data/Voice/Video/Telephony in the Tactical Network, engineering and technical documentation and assistance in the development of technical requirements, specifications, plans and reports, software/hardware engineering, preparation of independent assessments, systems engineering, technical expertise at fielding locations, test and evaluation, architectural/interoperability support, and quality engineering.
- Provide technical support in PM TN equipment labs.
- Develop equipment and network configurations and products.
- Support technology insertion testing relative to emerging PM TN Networks requirements and capabilities.
- Knowledge of virtualization and storage technologies from VMware, EMC, NetApp, Microsoft, Dell, HP and others.
- Cisco Experience to include: Cisco IOS and NXOS, Cisco ISE, Cisco UCS Networking and Configuration, Cisco ASA. Routing Protocols BGP, OSPF, RIP, EIGRP as well as proficiency in MULTICAST; a background with designing and implementing LANs and VLANs. Subject Matter expert with VOIP, Cisco Call Manager, Call Manager Express, Redcom Sigma Core
- Experience with network protocol analysis using Sniffer, wireshark or similar tool.
- Familiarity with Army Software Baselines and Architectures.
- Experience working with Microsoft and Active Directory
- Provide technical expertise at field locations as needed.
Systems Engineer Responsibilities:

Perform systems engineering processes, procedures, and best practices. Provide engineering expertise to activities such as development, testing, evaluating, training and configuration management in support of an acquisition program. Provide engineering support on the transport and networking architecture focused on current and future tactical network capabilities. Support design reviews and perform thorough, in-depth technical evaluations and assessments of network performance and architectures, to include support of risk assessments and integration strategies. Support Capability Set (CS) and Integrated Tactical Network (ITN) activities. Provide technical support to evaluate and integrate new technologies to modernize communications. Effectively collaborate with organizations to include, but not limited to PEO C3T, other PMs and PdMs, ACM and other Army wide stakeholders and coordinate on interoperability considerations.
- Review and understand acquisition documentation (e.g. mission needs statements, operational needs statements, Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs), Capability Development Documents (CDDs), Capability Production Documents (CPDs), technical specifications, etc.) for Army tactical communications systems and translate those requirements to support the development of technical solutions that are standards-based and cost efficient. Review Government performance work statements and contractor proposals for technical accuracy and to ensure requirements are met.
